Dutch interactive exhibition
“Peace Factory” becomes
“Peace Labyrinth” in Jerusalem

On the 21st of October 2007 the interactive exhibition The Peace Labyrinth was presented in the Bloomfield Science Museum of Jerusalem.

This bilingual exhibition (Arab-Hebrew) is originally based on the Dutch Peace Factory, developed by Peace Education Projects. The Peace Factory travels since 2004 with great success in two editions through the Netherlands and Germany.

A Israeli – Dutch team worked two years intensely on “The Peace Labyrinth”. The exhibition want to challenge students from 10 – 12  to unmask their prejudices and to research how conflicts in daily life can be solved in a peaceful way. Starting point is that peace appears there where people take care for each other and the earth.

The Labyrinth is divided in four themes: Diversity, Observation and Prejudices, Conflicts and Communication. The exhibition is self directing and students find their own way in pairs by means of a booklet that works as a guide. Discovering, experiencing and acting are the key words in this interactive exhibition.

Its is a great challenge for Peace Education Projects and the Israeli partners to contribute to peace by means of the Peace Labyrinth. In the exhibition, children can exercise their skills to create a new personal perspective.

In the next two years some tens of thousands pupils and teachers will visit the Peace Labyrinth. To prepare and follow up the two hour visit, a manual for teachers is written. The project was financially supported by the Jerusalem Foundation and the Olivestone Trust.
